Jena's Six

As I was wandering through the hallways of the Internet, I came upon a story that I couldn't believe was taking place in today's society. It takes place in a small Louisiana town by the name of Jena.
(After a lil help from wikipedia, I found out that there are roughly 3000-4000 people residing there.)

Anyways, In this city there's a high school; Jena High School, home of the Giants. One day a young man (who's black) asked permission of an administrator if he could sit in the shade of a tree, usually reserved for white students only.

whoa! are you kidding me, reserved for whites only! It's sad to see that some places in this supposed progressive country are still in that backward state of mind that this country was originally founded on. now back to the story....

The next day, there were three nooses waiting on that tree. Now if this isn't enough, the three white students who did this were recommended for expulsion by the principal but the decision was overruled by the School Board and were only given I.S.S. (In School Suspension). The Superintendent was quoted as saying that "Adolescents play pranks. I don't think it was a threat to anybody"................rightttttttt

now keep in mind that the town of Jena is 85% white.

Some of the football players (African American students)decided to take a stand against the decision and staged a silent protest under the big tree. The school called the local authorities and even the District Attorney....wow. After quite a while the DA lifted up his pen and is quoted as having said "with one stroke of my pen, I can make your life disappear."

I don't even know what to say to that. Even though it isn't known as to whom it was directed, that's still a very profound statement.....

Throughout the fall semester (football season as well) fights continued to break out between blacks and whites but nobody wanted to do anything to hurt the team, who was having a great season until that point.

After the season though....on November 30th, 2006 to be specific, a fire was started inside the school completely leaving it ravaged. The culprit was not found and the school had to be rebuilt.

The school being burnt down was just the start of many other events between black and white students that would eventually escalate. On December 4, 2006, a group of 6 black students jumped a white student, Justin Barker, after he bragged about how another black student was beaten up earlier that week. Barker was sent to the hospital with a concussion and a swollen eye, and the 6 students were all arrested.

The 6 students were all charged with aggravated assault, but which was later upped to attempted second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder by the DA......which would have put them in prison for up to 100 years. On top of that their bond was set between $70,000 and $138,000.

That's ridiculous if you ask me. I'm not mad about the fact that the black students getting in trouble, which they should have since it was a school fight. The fact that is irritating to me is the charges put upon them.

Conspiracy to murder? Attempted Second-Degree Murder? On top of that, nothing AT ALL happened to any white student that was involved in any other fights, one of which involved a sawed off shotgun being pulled out. You have got to be KIDDING ME!

Now some of the kids were not able to make bond and have remained in prison for the months since. The first of the Jena six's trials recently began and to many people's surprise his sentence was reduced to one of battery instead of murder, which could be punishable to up to 22 years in prison. The court appointed lawyer didn't call a single witness to the stand and the all white jury scheduled for the trial will only make matters worse. His sentencing will be held on the 20th of September.

Many organizations are trying to help these kids and their community and trying to spread the word about this horrible situation.

I cant help but laugh at the way things were handled by the leaders of the community. This country still needs to grow up.

Like the late Martin Luther King said, "Life’s most urgent question is: What are you doing for others?"

Do your part....Help these victims of prejudice.

Wrong Ball.....So Legal.....Right?

SOOO there was this game where one of the teams did this trick play...........it worked, but for some reason people say its not legal. I for one think its completely legal and will do till otherwise proven too.

Its such a sick play to be called illegal too....cracks me up every time I see it.

Youth Football League

Heres one from about the same time period back in 2006...the narrorator says the play is completely legal and we ALL know TV doesnt lie to people. Its just simply always right. I dont know, you tell me.

Play Ball

So, me and a bunch of my closest friends made this rec. softball team. you know, something just for fun, see how good we can be....

we had been talking about the team and getting everything ready for about 3 months now. Sprinkle in a couple practices with about half the team showing up. Add a couple new faces into the mix.

We schedule a scrimmage with another team (a rival of sorts since part of our team came from that team haha) and the funny thing is that today was the first day that our entire team actually showed up. We were one cohesive unit out on the field and it was sooo funny to watch. The supposed "worst" player on the team hits an inside the park home run.

**Listen to Chris Villa on 101.5 jamz.....honestly the dopest DJ this side of Earth...**

All in all thought it was funny and just makes me wish the season would start sooner. Team DO WORK is in full effect yall.

Speaking of seasons starting, the fantasy football leagues that im in are just waiting for the first week to be over with so that my team name can stand at the top of the board.

In one of my leagues, there has been sooo much shit talking about the randomest things, I honestly visit it every couple of hours just so I don't miss out on any drama...its kinda like watching one of those soap operas. You watch one of them...tell yourself you aren't gonna watch anymore, then come back the next week to see what happened to Jennifer or if Ben really died or not. (those are just made up, but really did Jake marry that one girl?, haha jk).

Alright enough of my rambling, ehh, more like excitement filled narration of a day in the life of me....but my next topic is gonna be a review of the latest CD I just bought. Talib Kweli's Eardrum.

If you got any suggestions.....let me get itttttt. Until next time, Shut up!

Twice in a Night? Damn.....

Aight......What in the HELL is wrong with people....no wonder why those kids in Indianapolis were doing what they were doing.....

So I guess it explains how some people graduate haha.....

The Jump off

Well, I guess I can put away the party hats and sparkling cider......what happened to the "Welcome to the Internet" Party? I mean this is my blogging cherry being popped. COME ONNNNN.

Anyways, I'm yo above average person with average thoughts. I mean Im gonna seriously gonna try and come on here and chronicle my life everyday. yep....EVERYDAY! aren't yall just so excited.

Let the random thoughts beginnn.....

1) I like music.....I will listen to any and all types.......oh any and all = HIP HOP. Yea, nothing else compares, honestly. From West Coast gangster/riding in my lolo with my chucks and dickies to the East Coasts' legends to the southern mood (Ay BAY BAY) music, to ChiTowns Finest. I HEART it all.

2) I honestly believe nobody can touch me in anything.....even if you are better than me......you cant touch me SON!

3) I play ball, Know everything that has to do with ball, listen to ball, watch ball, play ball on video games. I just love ball (no homo, shout out to lil wayne)........and to yall that are athletically challenged Ball=Basketball

4) Fantasy Football is the best invention of my generation..........NOTHING can top that.....not even file sharing programs.........on second thought, check that, Its the Second best invention.

5) Arizona State University houses some of the most RETARTED people you will ever meet. To see Juniors and Seniors not being able to divide 50 by 5 without the aid of a calculator......is quite saddening.

Thats like asking the president.......i just realized that this analogy isn't going anywhere starting like that.

I dont know about you but, HOW THE HELL ARE YOU GRADUATING? I guess in the end ASU is getting their paper regardless.....damn to be able to hustle like that.......

6) Im from the hardest, most gangsta, most "betta shut the f**k up before you get slapped the f**k up" place ever......Arizona.

aight probably not the hardest....or most gangsta........ORRRR the third thing...but its still home to me so SHUT UP.

aight thats about it for the first one.....I'll let you know more bout me as the issues role out. Untill then my people.....
