Presidential Weekend, kind of.

October 19th, 2007 - Barack Obama came through Arizona State University in great fashion. Except for the fact that I stood in the sun for an hour waiting for someone to go up there and address the masses. Finally this lady from a local radio station steps up and introduces the few speakers that were supposed to, in a way, hype up Mr. Obama. The most notable being state representative Ed Albasser. At one point they began to play Kanye West's "Touch the sky" and everyone got excited for Barack to show. But alas we had more waiting to do. After another 30-45 minutes he finally arrived. FINALLY. and the crowd went crazy. Fortunately I was in the front couple rows and got a great view of the stage. There was this Coach guy who obviously was a volunteer starting chants "2,4,6,8, Obama for President" or something like that

B dot O dot (we are cool like that) got up there and spoke, to 6000 people, as if he was talking to just you. It wasn't a speech, but more of a conversation, that was more or less one-sided I guess.

He spoke on issues such as "closing the achievement gap" by recruiting a "whole army of teachers", securing the boarder yet providing a way for people already here to gain citizenship. He stated that being a country of laws and being a country of citizens was not contradictory. Health care and fuel efficiency were also topics of discussion.

Overall it was an experience and has pushed me more in the direction of supporting the senator from Illinois.

Team AfroBallers attended a 3-3 basketball Tourney on Saturday. Balled from 10-6. were stomping on people, favored to go to the finals. and then it went all down hill. Our Quarterfinal opponent forfeited and so we sat and rested for another 40 minuets or so. where we all lost our edge and tightened up. Also, watching the team we were gonna play, we got WAY overconfident. And Lost.......relegated to the lowly Third Place. WOW

Sunday - Team DO WORK got Mercy Ruled in our softball game. finishing the season 1-6. And yet we can still go to the playoffs. NICE, ITS A NEW DAY....or maybe a NEW SEASON. WE GOT IT.

'Till Next Time

Eid is finally here....Thank God.

Well, when the month of Ramadan first started, it seemed like it would be a long ways away till the end. But the yearly journey has finished fast(or at least it seems like it was fast now that I'm done) and I feel like the self-examination I did has made me a better person overall.

The month is about sacrifice, spirituality, and most importantly to teach us to, basically, not take you life for granted. And that is exactly what happened. Sacrifice was a big one for me. Going to the mosque on an everyday basis was something that I am happy I did. It seemed like I secluded myself from the friends but at the end of the day, I do not regret my decision.

Religion is important in my life and I hadn't really noticed it before now. Most of my decisions are based on my religious beliefs (and also my Eritrean upbringing, which sometimes I dislike). Not going out that much and being closer to the Fam was a decision I made this month. It felt good to be honest with you, you don't notice how much you aren't home, until you stop going out. If it wasn't for the understanding nature of my friends, I don't know how this month could have gone. And for that I am thankful.

Tomorrow, the 13th of Oct. is the day of Eid, and its gonna be a good day. People of many different nationalities, tongues, and socio-economic backgrounds coming together to pray. Seeing all of your "brothers" and "sisters" at one place for a common belief is a beautiful sight.

With my softball game on Sunday (hopefully we finally win), Muslim Student Association sponsored Basketball Tournament next Saturday, and finally being able to hang out and eat during the day...... this year should be good.

HAPPY EID and hopefully it is as good as mine will be. SALAM!

ahh the power of the box with colors.

A couple months ago I had been introduced to a show called the office. Aight maybe not introduced, maybe it was just mentioned to me but still, you get the point....i hope

Anywhoooo. Those months passed by and I paid no attention to the show, not even bothering to look into it, which for me is kinda odd cus I usually do when put onto something that is supposedly hilarious.

I stumbles upon a "top 10 'thats what she said' moments" video. I clicked it and i became instantly attached to this show. to the point where I somehow got hold of season 3 and currently trying to get hold of the previous 2.

Steve Carell is the master of dry humor. Check that. That whole show is genius. Dry humor is incredibly funny to me. I mean, that awkward silence type of humor. CLASSIC. The guy from the movie Superbad....Evan? yea, Michael another weird ass person who always left me crackin up when Arrested Development was still on.

The Office though has everything, from romance, drama, and documentary-esque interviews.....but that's not as important as Dwight being pranked continuously by Pam and Jim......AHHHHHHHH, excuse me, i need my fix again...........................................................................................................................................................................................................
alright, Im back. so anyways, go watch the show, its good, who am i kidding its great. I only hope to work in an office like that. haha now that would be dope.

in other news, the VH1 Hip Hop Honors are airing tomorrow. FINALLY. Its funny how VH1 is slowly overtaking BET as the place to be for hip hop. I mean, where else could you go from Uncut music videos to a Gospel Show......Give Davey D his own show or something. do something productive BET, the channel is just one "hot ghetto mess" haha, get it, like the show they air..............ha..............ha..........shut up.

and also, Ramadan is almost over. went by kinda fast though.

Do work is now 0-5, its just those real bad beginnings.....get past that first inning and we will be aight. but that first inning is always gonna be there. we are almost there.

until next time, [insert enlightening quote of choice], excuse the grammar at some points......i frankly dont care.
